Caretaker
Job Purpose
The post is to provide caretaking and cleaning services for The Guildhall and Market buildings. Duties cover security, cleaning, minor repairs and maintenance, room set-ups, dealing with the public and handling money
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure that the buildings are unlocked and locked at designated times (which may include weekends and evenings)
• Assemble and take down Courtyard stalls as required
• Carry out testing and recording of fire and security alarms and Legionella testing
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance as necessary
• Ensure that rooms and equipment for hire are provided, as set out on the appropriate booking form
• Daily cleaning and tidying duties
• Note and report matters affecting health and safety, and any defects in buildings, furniture, fittings and plant
• Ensure suitable cleaning materials and equipment are in stock by arrangement with management
• Provide cover for the other caretaker
• Weekly timesheets to be completed
• Any other duties as required, from time to time
Reporting line:
Reporting to: The Chief Executive of Menter Aberteifi Cyf. ![]()
Salary: £10.00 per hour
20 days paid holiday per annum, plus 8 statutory and bank holidays (pro rata)
Hours of work: expected to be a minimum 22 hours per week. The post will require split shifts to include early morning, evening and weekend working. The role is suitable for a job share. Working hours may be subject to variation, and unsocial hours will be necessary from time to time.

Come and join us at our Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, 4th December from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm. Extra stalls in the Courtyard and Market. Music, Christmas Dinner, Mulled Wine, Gifts and Christmas Decorations and much more.
Cardigan Guildhall Market is nearly full with many assorted traders on both floors. It will remain open at it's current location at least until Christmas this year, with a plan to relocate stalls in the New Year ahead of the planned refurbishment. All the businesses will continue to operate throughout. We are still here for you.
