”This place is absolutely magical” ”Amazing sculptures and yummy cakes!”
Sculptureheaven is the result of 17 years of turning a dream into a reality. Terry and Rose Barter moved from Bristol in 1995 to a run down house in a bare field. Since then they have patiently transformed the 2.5 acres into a fabulous Sculpture Garden described by visitors as “a magical mystery tour ”.
Visitors to Sculptureheaven can visit the workshops and see how the sculptures are made. There is a studio/gallery displaying the finished work of Terry, Rose, Jon Barnes ( a sculptor inspired by Classical art) and Paul Jenkins (who specialises in exquisite wildlife sculpture) as well as the garden where the sculptures are displayed in a variety of settings including
The Angel House, a folly which sits on an island, designed and built single-handedly by Terry. It holds Terry’s collection of Angels as well as Angel sculptures which he has made himself.
The Footpath, a sculpture trail which wanders through a meadow with magnificent views of the River Ceri Valley and the hills beyond.
The unique Gothic Garden which places purple, black and grey plants alongside some wonderfully weird sculptures.
In the Planetary Herb Garden herbs are laid out in medieval style accoridng to the Planet they are associated with.
A section of the garden contains a fruit and vegetable plot, an orchard and a mini-vineyard. We have won prizes for our onions and beetroots in our local produce show!
We offer all visitors refreshments in the Starfish Tea Room. You are welcome to make a donation in return. All profits from the tea room are sent to Halo Trust a charity which clears land mines.
